Introduction

Hi Mr. Watts and/or Mr. Walker,

Thanks for reading and responding to my contact email. I’ve spent the last few weeks seeking out a company to work for and BigNoise is my #1 choice. I think your company is awesome, and the work you do has inspired me to create this interactive resumé.

I’m asking you to spend five minutes with my site. If you think I can help BigNoise, let’s schedule a meeting.

Here’s some ways I may be able to help out:

  • Researching Projects
  • Checking In with Clients
  • Scheduling Meetings
  • Documenting Projects
  • Brainstorming
  • Conducting U/I testing
  • Writing Copy

And I’m sure you can come up with a few I didn’t mention.

Why did I choose BigNoise? I came up with a list of reasons.

Why

  • SYNC
  • LOOP
  • CHOREO
  • TYDTWD
  • Agility’s Icons
  • Your Website
  • NASCAR HOF
  • Trade Fuel’s Logo
  • Your Use of Typography
  • Your Attention to Detail
  • Antiquity’s Color Scheme
  • Your Client List is Awesome
  • Live Action Graphics on halo
  • Bloom’s 3D Mouseover Effect
  • The Quirkiness of BooneOakley
  • The Way Agility Pops of the Page
  • The Physics of Impact Marketing Navigation
  • Now that you know why, meet the who.

Bio

NOVEMBER 2005 → OCTOBER 2006

I had an idea to start a dog walking company. I named it Gopher Dogs®. I bootstrapped the venture with a few credit cards and set up the legal stuff. I left my job at Tweeter on my birthday in March and went to work full time for my company with no clients and no revenue. In one year Gopher Dogs had over 150 clients and three independent contractors. Gopher Dogs took in $22K for the year.

NOVEMBER 2006 → OCTOBER 2007

Year two was a growing and learning one. I purchased a mobile grooming van and launched Gopher Dogs Grooming, which served as a great lesson for raising capital. I also helped launch an alpha version of a franchise model in Boston with a long time friend. On top of all that, I had a baby boy in October.

NOVEMBER 2007 → OCTOBER 2008

This is the year I learned the value of time and money. Gopher Dogs Charlotte (including grooming) took in $116K and Boston (pet sitting only) took in $108K. The Charlotte operation is managed and runs without my daily involvement. This left me with the time to attend SXSW, start a web design Meetup group, get involved in the non-profit organization Lives Linked (an offshoot of RedVentures) and be with my son while my wife worked.

That’s my story, and here’s some of my work.
